MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN

Milwaukee is the largest city in the state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Milwaukee County. It is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan and has a population of 577,222 at the 2020 census. Milwaukee is a diverse and vibrant city with a rich history and culture. It is known for its brewing industry, festivals, sports teams, art museums, and lakefront attractions. Whether you are visiting for business or pleasure, you will find something to enjoy in Milwaukee.

HOW TO GET HERE

The main airport near Milwaukee is General Mitchell International Airport (MKE), which is about 30 minutes from Wellpoint Care Network, 9 to 11 miles from the center of Milwaukee and connects to national and international cities. It offers travelers lower fares and more options than ever before with non-stop service to 50 cities. It also has a variety of parking, transportation, dining, and shopping options.

 

Other airports that are within 85 miles of Milwaukee are Dane County Regional Airport in Madison, Wisconsin; Chicago O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois; and Chicago Rockford International Airport in Rockford, Illinois. There is a bus service from Chicago O’Hare to Milwaukee Airport every 4 hours.

This historic hotel dates back to 1893 and is one of the most elegant and luxurious hotels in Milwaukee. It features a grand lobby with a vaulted ceiling, marble floors, and crystal chandeliers. It also has a spa, a fitness center, an indoor pool, and several dining options. The hotel is located in downtown Milwaukee, close to many attractions and landmarks.

This boutique hotel is housed in a former warehouse that was built in 1907. It has been renovated to offer modern amenities and stylish decor with an industrial chic vibe. It also has a motorcycle theme that pays homage to Harley-Davidson. The hotel has a restaurant, a bar, a fitness center, and a pet-friendly policy. The hotel is located near the Harley-Davidson Museum and the Menomonee River Valley.

This unique hotel is located in a former Pabst brewery that was built in 1882. It has been converted into spacious suites with kitchenettes, living areas, and original features such as exposed brick walls and copper kettles. It also has a fitness center, a business center, and a complimentary breakfast. The hotel is located near the Fiserv Forum and the Milwaukee Public Museum.

This cozy guesthouse is a home away from home in Milwaukee. It offers eight individually designed rooms with comfortable beds, private bathrooms, and smart TVs. It also has a shared kitchen, a lounge, a library, and a rooftop deck. The guesthouse is located in the Bay View neighborhood, near many restaurants, bars, and shops.

This hotel and casino is a destination in itself in Milwaukee. It offers 500 rooms and suites with modern amenities and views of the city or the Menomonee Valley. It also has a casino with over 2,500 slot machines, 100 table games, a bingo hall, and a poker room. It also has a spa, a fitness center, an indoor pool, and several dining and entertainment options. The hotel and casino is located near the Harley-Davidson Museum and the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory.

How to Get Around

Milwaukee is easy to get around by various modes of transportation. Here are some of the best ways to get around Milwaukee:

·       By car: Driving is a convenient way to get around Milwaukee, especially if you want to explore the suburbs or the surrounding areas. You can rent a car from one of the many rental agencies in the city or at the airport. You can also use ride-hailing services such as Uber or Lyft to get around. Parking is available at most hotels and attractions, but it may be expensive or limited in some areas.

·       By bus: Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) operates an extensive network of buses that cover most of the city and some of the suburbs. You can use the MCTS app or website to plan your trip, check schedules, and pay fares. You can also buy tickets or passes from vending machines or retailers. A single ride costs $2.25, and a day pass costs $5.

·       By streetcar: The Hop is a modern streetcar system that runs along a 2.5-mile route in downtown Milwaukee. It connects major attractions such as the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Fiserv Forum, the Milwaukee Public Market, and the Third Ward. The Hop is free to ride and operates every 10 to 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.

·       By bike: Biking is a fun and eco-friendly way to get around Milwaukee, especially in the warmer months. You can rent a bike from one of the many Bublr Bikes stations around the city for $4 per half-hour or $15 per day. You can also use your own bike and take advantage of the many bike lanes, trails, and racks in the city.

·       By foot: Walking is another great way to get around Milwaukee, especially in the downtown area where many attractions are within walking distance of each other. You can also enjoy the scenic views of the lakefront, the riverwalk, or the historic neighborhoods as you walk. You can use a map or an app to navigate your way around.

Milwaukee Art Museum

This stunning museum features a collection of over 25,000 works of art, from ancient to contemporary, housed in a striking building designed by Santiago Calatrava. The museum also has a movable wing-like structure called the Burke Brise Soleil that opens and closes daily. Don't miss the Quadracci Pavilion, the Cudahy Gardens, and the lakefront views from the museum.

Harley-Davidson Museum

If you are a fan of motorcycles, you will love this museum that showcases the history and culture of Harley-Davidson. You can see hundreds of bikes, from the oldest to the newest models, as well as exhibits on design, engineering, customization, and racing. You can also hop on a bike simulator, take a factory tour, or shop for souvenirs at the gift shop.

Catch a game at American Family Field

If you are a sports fan, you will want to see the Milwaukee Brewers play baseball at their home stadium, American Family Field. This modern ballpark has a retractable roof that can open or close depending on the weather. It also has a giant slide that mascot Bernie Brewer slides down whenever the Brewers hit a home run. You can also tour the stadium, visit the Brewers Hall of Fame, or grab a bite at one of the many concession stands.

Discover Discovery World

This science and technology museum is a great place for families and kids to learn and have fun. You can explore interactive exhibits on topics such as robotics, freshwater ecology, innovation, energy, and more. You can also see live animals at the Reiman Aquarium, watch shows at the digital theater, or board a replica of a 19th-century schooner at the harbor.
